I have come across several products such as Sprinks Edible Gold Leaf Flakes that claim to be edible but are far cheaper than “24 karat edible gold flakes” (such as this one from SLOFoodGroup)
I’m a bit skeptical of the price difference, and the fact that the Sprinks option (and similar) does not specify 24k gold.
Is Sprinks made of a different material? I bought a bottle and the ingredients are listed as “Color (E175)”. E175 is the EU approved value for edible gold. But I just can’t get past the fact that it’s so much cheaper. What am I missing?
